FNAs are performed on lumps or masses in areas such as enlarged lymph nodes, nodules on the breast or thyroid, salivary glands, and soft tissue to help determine if a lump is benign or malignant.
In the clinic, we provide excellent diagnostic services including interaction with patients and clinicians, offer expert diagnostic consultations in all of cytopathology, and perform conventional as well as ultrasound guided FNAs on any lesion of concern.
This saves the patient the need to return to the office for a repeat FNA in case the specimen obtained is inadequate or has been poorly prepared and limits the cost of repeating the biopsy. It is well known that around 30% or more of the FNA materials collected and received in pathology laboratories are inadequate. The cost of performing an ultrasound guided needle aspiration varies between $800 to $1,000 dollars, not including the pathology interpretation and written report. However, our clinic’s fee includes the clinical examination and history of the patient, performance of the FNA, preparation of the slides, staining, interpretation, and written report with cytology image included, for a single, reasonable price.
